How to Tighten Up Your Butt

When you exercise, there's often key areas of your body you want to work on but may not know how to do it. Even if your motivation starts out high, not knowing exactly how to tighten up those trouble spots can deflate any good intentions. Tightening up your butt requires specific focus on that muscle set and can be done with minimal effort.

Instructions

Step 1

Set goals. Before you begin to tighten up your butt, set long- and short-term goals that are attainable and will allow you to build confidence over time. Setting smaller goals will be a major motivation boost when reached steadily and often. They will inch you closer to long-term goals and give you proof of accomplishment in the short-term interim.

Step 2

Choose some exercises. Tightening your butt requires some exercise, so be sure to choose exercises that fit within your skill set. In the beginning, do exercises that are easier for you to do until the glutes get more used to being worked out on a consistent basis. Also keep in mind the physical position the exercise will have your body in and how it may affect other parts of your body, such as your back. Exercises such as toe taps, lunges, single-leg front raises, squats and hip-lift progressions are all recommended exercises to perform in order to tighten your butt. Work with a personal trainer to get some expert advice on additional exercises.

Step 3

Change your routine. After performing the same exercises for a while, your butt will begin to get used to the specific exercises you do. When this happens, you begin to plateau and improvement stops. There are many ways to avoid this from happening. Changing the type of exercises you do often will help to keep your butt muscles from getting used to exercises. If you are unable to adjust the type of exercises , simply adding resistance of some type, increasing weight and increasing reps will help as much. Layering these approaches will increase your chances of avoiding a prolonged plateau.

Step 4

Adjust your diet to increase your results. You cannot expect to get a toned, tightened butt if your diet consists of junk food instead of healthy choices. If you are able to see a dietician, do so, as they will be able to give you better insight on how your specific body type will react to certain types of foods in your diet.

Step 5

Consider the surgical route. If you are unable to do exercises, or would simply like to take an expensive but effective shortcut, surgery may be the answer. Liposuction for instance, is a process where fat can be removed from specific areas of the body. Talk to your doctor about the details of surgical remedies for a better looking butt. Some procedures such as liposuction may only be temporary and little to no exercise and poor diet may undo the effects of the operation over time.
